Acting School – English2018-12-06T23:02:11+00:00

OVERVIEW

The School of Acting for the Screen is dedicated to equipping Christians, spiritually and professionally, to effectively carry out the craft of acting for the screen in a way that is inspirational and missional, telling powerful stories and positively influencing society, as well as the film industry.

Beyond the technique and skills we equip actors with, we also journey with them in spiritual growth towards personal maturity, emotional wholeness and a worldview that inspires them to care for people, serve and see God’s purposes accomplished through their lives.

Though it is our aim to prepare the actor for the film medium, our curriculum is designed to equip for theatre acting as well, since  most actors end up doing both film and theatre.

HANDS ON

Our high quality curriculum is combined with plenty of opportunities for our students to act. Because that’s how actors become great in their craft: by acting! Beyond the weekly scene study and rehearsals, acting students spend a total of 2 weeks acting on film sets. Actors learn how to explore a scene and a script in ways that enable them to bring a story and character to life with depth and authenticity, developing their personal actor toolbox in the process.

INDUSTRY READY

The intense environment of the school helps students prepare for the realities of the industry. Our classroom curriculum includes topics such as work ethic, set etiquette, team work, inner wholeness, integrity and the role of Christians within the industry. Our teachers themselves are involved in the industry, both mainstream and independent, offering our students insight into the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead of them.

STORY

Above all, this school is about story. The quest for stories that transcend and reach deep into the heart, nursing our brokenness back to health while nurturing our strength and determination to be fully alive. Our goal is for our students to come out of this school passionate about story and with an unwavering drive to tell stories that will move hearts and change the world! Acting is all about storytelling! Become a storyteller!

Hi! My name is Rebecca and I lead the Acting School at YWAM Dunham. I was born in France and moved to Quebec in 2002. I did my DTS in Australia in 2004 and in 2012, after years of reflection, I launched myself into the acting world by doing the YWAM School of Acting for the Screen. In pursuing acting professionally, I joined an incredible acting studio in Montreal which furthered my understanding and skills of acting in even greater ways. As a school leader, I have made it my passion to equip and empower Christians who are called to an acting career. I am married and have three children and aside from acting, I am also a Jazz & Bossa Nova singer. Let’s meet!
